There are in total nine burial sites in the Drobitsky Yar. Even now, 70 years after the massacre, the burials’ boarders are not clearly marked. There is no indication that thousands of peoples are buried right under your feet.
There are only temporary looking signs identify the burial places. The sign simply says:“burial place” (“место захоронения”).
It is sad, but since there are no clear boundary marks, people are using grave as picnic areas. There is no malicious intent – they just do not know.
We would like to plant trees (mostly metasequoias) to indicate the grave sites and their boundaries.
